Music on - World off

I seem to be acquiring quite a few stamps by Visible Image lately! Here's another card made with one of their stamps, this one again is great for teenagers' cards:

The background was made with Brusho powder. I sprinkled a couple of Brusho colours onto watercolour cardstock then spritzed with water to activate them. Rather than soak up the excess water with a paper towel I pressed another piece of cardstock over the top & made a ghost print - 2 for the price of one, I like that! ...

I used this ghost print as my background for the card:

The headphones & wording were stamped & embossed straight onto the background. I used a stamp from another set to make the border.

I hope you like it.
Thanks for popping by.

Take care,

Gelli plate fun

I'm really into trying new techniques at the moment, the Gelli plate being the latest one! I had a fun afternoon with acrylic paints, random leaves from the garden & other bits & bobs round the house. Here's a few of the prints I pulled from the plate ...

I took one of the prints & used it for a card background:

I love this stamp of a girl jumping in the air - so carefree & full of life. I stamped the girl directly onto the background with versamark ink & heat embossed with Wow! powder. I stamped & embossed the sentiment in the same stamp set on white cardstock & fussy cut, gluing onto the background. I drew lines round the edge of the gelli print to give it a border.

I hope you like it.

Take care.

Modelling film tag

I made this tag after seeing the current challenge at Tag You're It.

The tag background was made with Brusho, a new product for me but I love the effects you can get with them. The flower was die cut from modelling film, stamped with stazon ink & painted on the reverse with acrylic paint. Once you heat the modelling film with a heat gun it becomes very pliable & you can mold it into shape. You need asbestos hands though I found! It's very hot & you need to move quickly before it hardens, but if you don't like the shape you've made, just heat it again & re-shape.

I hope you like it.

I've been a bit quiet on here lately as we've been on a fab family holiday to Majorca. This has been my view for a fortnight this month ...

So I'm now all rested & recuperated!
I hope you've enjoyed the summer too.

Take care.

It's the last day of the #artistchallenge & today I'm sharing a card I made a while ago for a friend who has 3 cavachon dogs. I used a stamp set & embossing folder that was free in a magazine which was perfect timing to make her card!

#artistchallenge Day 5

I've been gradually increasing the colours of distress inks I have & buying the mini ink pads. So today I had a play with a few of my new colours & a stamp I purchased at a craft show a while ago. The design was inspired by a few blog challenges ...

To make the coloured background, I blended 4 different inks onto white cardstock through a stencil & spritzed with water. I then inked up the bird stamp & stamped it 4 times on top of the coloured background. With the 5th stamping,I masked off the bird part of the stamp so I could just stamp it's perch. The flying bird was stamped once on the main card & then again lower down without re-inking to give the effect of the bird flying off it's perch. I masked off part of the top of the card, blended distress ink & stamped the sentiment.

I found a neat idea on Pinterest how to keep blending foams with their matching ink pad... the round foams are a perfect fit for underneath the mini ink pads & you can hold them in place with some washi tape ...

#artistchallenge Day 4

A few months ago I found a company called Visible Image who make some fab stamps. Today I'm sharing a door hanger I made using one of their stamps which is a great set for teenagers!

After applying a coat of gesso I painted the door hanger with blue acrylic paint. The hash tags were made with a bamboo skewer while the paint was still wet. I didn't have any black texture paste so I mixed some black acrylic paint with white texture paste & brushed through a spots stencil.
I managed to ink the stamp in 2 colours by inking up very carefully with a red mini ink pad first then inking the rest of the stamp with black! The image was stamped onto white cardstock, fussy cut then glued onto the hanger. I drew round the images in black marker to make them stand out.

#artistchallenge Day 3

I normally only post up cards on my blog but I thought I would share this trinket box I made recently ...

I sanded the box & gave it a coat of gesso, then painted it with acrylic paint. The bird stamp is an old one from my stash from a company called Banana Frog.
I added some texture with texture paste mixed with acrylic paint & painted through a stencil. Then added some crackle glaze to the bird.
I hope you like it.

Smooshing with friends

I found a bit of time this afternoon to do some crafting so I could enter a couple of challenges before the deadlines. I try to enter the One Layer card challenge at Less is More as I find that one really makes me think outside the box. I combined it with the 'swooshing' challenge at Just Us Girls & the cue card of 'Pink' at CASology. Here's what I came up with ...

I rubbed an ink pad onto a craft sheet then spritzed it with water. I then laid a square card blank front over the top of it to get the 'swooshed' effect across the card. The hexagon pattern was then stamped across the top in the same colour. I stamped the 'Friend' sentiment in a different colour; overstamped with a versamark inkpad & embossed with clear embossing powder to make it stand out.

This wasn't my first attempt, my creative journey went something like this ...

This was my first attempt, but I thought it looked too busy, so I gave up with that one & came up with this ...

I still wasn't happy with that one, the 2 patterns seemed to jar with each other. So eventually it was third time lucky! Does anyone else have these trial & error moments?!

The geometric stamps were a free gift in a magazine ...

Sing!

Two posts in one day! I wanted to enter the Less is More challenge again so here's what I came up with ...I bought this Visible Image stamp at a craft show recently & I've just placed an order with them for some other stamps ... watch this space!

Just very simple stamping ... the stamp & the sentiment say it all really! It makes me think of the Ed Sheeran song :)

Without the rain there'd be no rainbow

I've had a little break from crafting for the last week or so ...I had a steroid injection in my wrist which was a tad painful & also put it out of action for a day or 2. I then caught a rotten cough & cold so I've been feeling a little meh lately! I'm not one to moan though & I won't let anything keep me down for long! Which brings me nicely onto the sentiment of this card; always see the positive ...

I do like to join in with the challenges in blogland, so I've combined 3 of them to come up with this card. The rainbow is a die cut. You do need to die cut 6 times from 6 different coloured cardstock but it didn't take very long. I masked off a panel then stamped with 1st, 2nd & 3rd generation stamping (where you don't re-ink your stamp before stamping again). I emphasised the panel by scoring a line top & bottom. I wanted the raindrops to glisten so I added glossy accents to them all.

Thank you for popping by & take care.

A friend like you

It's one layer week at Less is More & I often find this challenge a challenge!  The challenge is to make the sentiment the main focus of the card. I haven't inked up these honeycomb stamps from Clearly Besotted for a while & thought these would make a nice background. I was tempted to go for pink, green & then yellow or purple as the third colour, but decided to use this lovely bright, but pastel blue instead. I quite like the card I have come up with this time ...

Suits you sir!

I always find male cards the most difficult to make. I picked up 2 paper pads at a craft show in Birmingham recently which are perfect for male cards. I used one of them to make my nephew's birthday card ...

Thank you for popping by my blog. I hope you have a lovely weekend. I'm off to a crafting afternoon at a friend's house tomorrow where she is going to show us how to do book folding. The ones I have seen of my friend's & on Pinterest look fab so fingers crossed!

Take care.

From all of us

Clearly Besotted has a fab release of goodies this month. My order arrived very quickly as always on Monday & I've had a quick play with one stamp set this afternoon. Here's what I came up with ...

I stamped the row of poppies stamp 3 times, the first time in orange, then I masked it & stamped either side in yellow. A couple of strips of card at the bottom emphasized the colours & I finished off by rounding the corners with my corner chomper & adding a couple of candy dots. I have a lot of these but I'm never sure how to place them on my card so that they don't look like they've just landed!

Thanks for popping by & take care.
